Taroudant

Taroudant an erstwhile capital of the Saadian dynasty is a lesser known Imperial city.  At the heart of the fertile Souss valley this is the main market town of the area, renowned for its crafts – Berber jewellery, marble animal carvings and other sculpture.  Its souks are among the most relaxed in Morocco with fewer touts and less pressure to buy.  Take tea in the in the old sultans Kasbah of Moulay Ismail which now forms part of the Palais Salam Hotel.
