The Red city of Marrakech gave its name to the country and if you see only one part of Morocco, it should be this. The Pearl of the South offers a vast array of exotic colours, smells, sounds, people and experiences. It can also be a delightful place to hide away and relx, in great gardens, sumptuous Riad restaurants and some of Africa’s best hotels. Marrakech is set spectacularly against the High Atlas mountains. At its heart is the Djemma El Fna Square, a hub of entertainment for tourists and Marrakchis alike, particularly at dusk and behind it is the medina, an intriguing maze of alleys and souks enclosed by thick mudbrick walls.
